“This was an interesting historical read based on evidence from the writing of Pliny the elder and archeological finds. It was a great way to learn about the events of AD79. There are some sad stories here but I liked the discovery of the town in 1860 section and the amazing discoveries they made. The illustrations and photographs combine well to bring the story to life. I would recommend it to anyone interested in volcanoes, history, Italy and the natural world.”
